Sprinkles are an easy way to turn anything festive! Throw some on top of imperfect cupcakes and suddenly they are party worthy. Add them to ice cream and you've got the start of a sundae. Sprinkle them on your late night hot cocoa with whipped cream and you've got a real indulgence. And when you put them on top of a loaf cake, along with a light sprinkling of streusel, you have an easy birthday-worthy breakfast or party treat to share.     Taken from Well Floured.  Snickers flavors in a grown up cake? Yes, please!   It's that slightly peanutty nougat center that sets this cake apart from your classic chocolate and buttercream cake. And  be sure you don't skip the peanuts inside and on top of the cake because they are just the perfect textural crunch in between all this creamy, velvety goodness!     Taken from Goodie Godmother. If summer is for making cupcake flavors you might not normally try, then it's also for making the most obnoxiously (festive?) colored sugar cookies with your kids! Am I right?     Once you try a swig sugar cookie, you won't go back. They are absolute pillows of softness and full of rich vanilla flavor.   My friend Christy made me promise NEVER to share this recipe with her. It's too dangerous. She likes buttercream and sugar cookies as much as I do. I'm sharing it with you, but it...

Sometimes you just need something in a festive wrapper.   Sometimes you just need something a little different. A little out of the box.   For me, nuts in my buttercream is certainly out of the box. I'm a big fan of creamy, smooth, unadulterated buttercream. But what is summer for after a long school year if not to try out a recipe that might not become your staple but is worthy of a place at the table? That's exactly how I'd describe this one.       Recipe from Sugary &...

This cake was a delight. Unexpectedly. The vanilla pound cake couldn't be more perfect and I kept wanting to make the creme-holes bigger just so that I could eat more crumbs as I worked.    And the creme is delicious as well. I didn't add so much as to overwhelm. Instead it was just enough to add this extra surprise flavor and to create some soaked, gooshy areas that hit the spot.       My friend Carol, whose birthday we were celebrating, is a nutritionist and eats almos...

We have raspberry jelly in our home, which is a rare treat! I just had to use some of it to try out these biscuits. Flaky and buttery, with that dynamic combination of rapsberry and chocolate with the tanginess of the cream cheese.  Who wouldn't want to start their morning with one (or three) of these!      Taken from Taste and Tell Blog. Recipe found HERE. *I left off the chocolate drizzle because they started to feel too much like dessert with that extra chocolate. Add new ...

I warned you that the bundts might be coming in abundance. It's like a turned my kitchen into 1973!   This cake tasted a little bit like summer in a bottle. Strawberry and citrus. Like a tall glass of freshly squeezed lemonade.    Only it's CAKE. Dense, buttery, sweet cake lemonade.     Taken from A Spicy Perspective. Click HERE for the recipe. Add new comment...

Who wouldn't want to make a bundt cake with this cute helper manning the sifter?     This bundt taught me something revolutationary. You see I love a good bundt cake. When they are super buttery and have just the right crumb there is no need for a thick frosting. But I often don't make bundt cakes because well, have you ever tried to unstick a stuck bundt cake? There's just no coming back from it sometimes. I've had to turn more than one bundt into what we will call a cake "mountain" o...

It's been awhile since I've made a cupcake. Long enough that the colorful liners are piling up in my cupboards. But my husband and best friend in Quito don't particularly like cupcakes. Crazy, right?   This is a cupcake I made on a sunny, summer day in Idaho ... though there is nothing summery about this cupcake. It's dense and rich and heavy. Really top heavy! Just the way I like it.     This isn't your classic cupcake with a fluffy mound of frosting on top. It's kind of a c...

When I am in the US I try to eat as much peanut butter as possible. Peanut butter on toast. Peanut noodles. Peanut coffee cake and ice cream. Peanut butter pie.    And this summer? Peanut butter and brownies. Buckeye brownies. The joy in my heart when I can dollop out 3/4 c. of peanut butter without having to wonder when my next jar might come. Made in one of my best friend's beautiful new kitchens. Knowing she would enjoy them as much as me. It's the little things!   These browni...
