If only this could show up fresh out of the oven in my kitchen EVERY morning. (Frankly it's totally easy to make so if I got a little more organized I could almost make that happen!)       My whole family goes a little batty over this bread. It's not so sweet that you can't eat it for Monday breakfast. Instead it's light, airy, a little bit tangy and oh so good toasted with a pat of butter and some strawberry jam.       English Muffin Toastable Bread recipe found on...

A dense coffee cake that isn't too sweet. Serve it for breakfast guests or whip it up for a small army of ladies who come together to discuss Brene Brown and life together once a week. In either case you won't have too many leftovers.      Recipe taken from No Spoon Necessary. Find it here. Add new comment...

You all know I'm a scone lover! A good scone lover because there certainly are a lot of bad ones out there. My first scone was a flavorless, dry, crumbly little affair someone had made from a mix, which makes me uncertain why I ever tried but I'm so glad I did!   These strawberry almond scones are right near the top of my scone list! If you don't have a mountain of cream with which to make my VERY favorite scone recipe, then these are your next best option.       They are fla...

This is one of the tastiest pies I've made in awhile! I have NO idea why mine looks entirely different than the original (above and beyond the fact that I snapped this with a camera phone in terrible light) but it's so satisfying regardless. Just a bit gooey in the middle, infused with cinnamon spice, so good still warm. (In fact I'd recommend inviting some friends over because while I still absolutely ate it the next day, that first warm piece was 100% how it should be eaten!)     &nb...

Last Fall THESE happened. And then I took to long to post them and then it was summer and not pumpkin weather at all. And now it's Fall again and it's, well, perfect timing because I've got a delicioius Cinnamon Sugar Pumpkin Soft Pretzel all ready for you!     A cinnamon sugar soft pretzel from Auntie Anne's is one of my most favorite treats. Something I get only when I'm doing mall scouring, which happens less than once a year. The pretzel treat in the middle of it makes it worth it!...

Do you have a day? Just an extra day to do what you want. No deadlines, no big commitments? (I know, how often do those happen?)   Well just in case you do, I suggest this might be a cake for that day. A day when you can slowly and methodically make the batter and line the baking sheets. When you can make your salted caramel from scratch. When you can portion out frosting into three separate colors and frost to your hearts delight.      Don't we all wish we had a day to let t...

You know when you are at a birthday party and you see a beautiful cake and you can't wait to eat it? ... And then you find out it's carrot cake. Well truth be told I find that really disappointing. If I want birthday cake I want it to be rich and chocolately or totally vanilla. But not filled with carrots. Of course, I'll eat it but it's just not my favorite.       Turning this into a coffee cake, though, is just brilliant because first thing in the morning I'm not demanding the l...

THIS cake was what birthday dreams are made of ... and then what New Year's dreams are made of too when you just keep eating it for every meal the following day. (I know, I know it's about 9 months past my birthday and I've been keeping one of the best cakes I've ever had secret.)     The chocolate cake is now my go-to base. It's dense and over-the-top moist and pure chocolate. But it's that toasted marshmallow filling that just kills me. In all the best ways. As long as you are patien...

THIS is a salad favorite that came straight from my head. I mean, there was a recipe for some sort of salad something or other but it was one of those days when I hadn't grocery shpoped correctly and was missing ingredients. And then as I subbed in for those missing items, I thought of other items that would be delish and before I knew it, I had a completely different salad.   A totally tasty salad.   Hearty and filling, chock full of veg and flavor, a exture explosion.     &...

Picking my very favorite classic pie is one of the easier food questions you could ask me. French Silk. Hands down. Every time. The richness. The silky smooth texture. The flaky crust. I dig it all.   I also really dig homemade ice cream. A whole bunch.     Sometimes a recipe like this comes along and totally doesn't live up to it's name. Like "cinnamon roll oatmeal." I mean, adding cinnamon to your oatmeal does NOT transform it into anything resembling the real thing! But this ic...
