It's become a tradition that I make the cake for Christine's birthday. Of course I love this tradition because I get to try out something new every year! One of the challenges is that Christine doesn't like buttercream frosting. It's too sweet and sugary and buttery for her.
I nailed it this year with her favorite cake yet. The frosting is mostly mascarpone and that delectable chocolate crunch is only faintly sweet. This cake is all about being decadent and flavor-centric without killing your sweet tooth. AND she's beautiful to look at!
