This cake was a delight. Unexpectedly. The vanilla pound cake couldn't be more perfect and I kept wanting to make the creme-holes bigger just so that I could eat more crumbs as I worked. 

 

And the creme is delicious as well. I didn't add so much as to overwhelm. Instead it was just enough to add this extra surprise flavor and to create some soaked, gooshy areas that hit the spot.

My friend Carol, whose birthday we were celebrating, is a nutritionist and eats almost no sugar but even she couldn't resist a second small piece!
