Eden loves water.  And fun.  And trying new things.  Age, height, those don't stop her.  She was a HUGE fan of the sprinkler her Abuela brought to Laura's house.  She was the only one really using the kiddie pool and she was having a blast doing it!         "MOM, she's splashing me!!"       "I'm not going to play with you anymore, Eden.  Never again" (Sigh).  Best of friends, worst of enemies.  ALL DAY LONG.    ...

At 2.5 Eden is a strongwilled, happy, outgoing little girl.  She is currently attached to her bear "Fifi" and has begun doing more imaginary play that involves nurturing activities like putting Fifi to sleep or soothing Fifi when she cries.  Eden sleeps with about 5 stuffed animals in her small crib, as well as her two blankets.  And she notices when one is missing.  Just two weeks ago I convinced her she no longer needs a sleep sack meant for an 18 month old.  if she do...

We kept activities pretty simple.  It seems like kids just like to play together in a new environment more than anything else!  And there were lots of parents present so it was mostly controlled chaos.   There were pancake coloring sheets and a totally failed attempt at making fruit loop necklaces.  (Never buy Ecuadorian brand fruit loops because they have no whole in the middle!)  We also did a pancake relay race that both the kids and men participated in.  We sepa...

I just got pictures back from our friend who graciously did all the photography at Eden's birthday party.  I'm always running around, prepping food, games and hosting so it's nice to have one less thing to worry about!  All photo credits go to Chris Sylva. Eden's 2nd birthday was a Pancakes & Pajamas Party!  All kids were told to come in their pjs and we did a morning brunch.  I liked that though we had to get up early to prep it felt like the party didn't consume our who...

Hmmm, earthy with a hint of salt Kelley: "Eden!  What are you doing?"     "I'm tasting my soup.  Don't worry about it!"         Now, let me see.  Am I detecting notes of crab as well? Aside:  She literally ate spoonfuls and spoonfuls of dirt.  Every. Single. Morning.     Add new comment...

I know I still have lots of blog catch-up to do.  Namely Eden's bday way back on early December and our trip to the beach post Christmas.  But I'm jumping ahead today because my friend Amy Altland just posted these pics and they are too great not to share.  Maybe photography skills should always be on the list of qualities in a friend?  She did a great job just catching some fun moments with our kids while the two dads played soccer yesterday morning.       &nb...

We celebrated Eden's bday on Saturday with a Pancakes & Pajamas party (separate post to come).  On her actual birthday we celebrated again with family presents, candles in her granola/yogurt parfait and leftover cake and a trip to Bicentenario Park as a family.  Eden couldn't love singing or hearing people sing "Happy Birthday" to her anymore and she loves blowing out candles (she's been practicing for months in pretend parties with Canaan.)     At two, Eden, you are spun...

This is "The Ee-ster," as we commonly call her.  Hair out of control, goofy grin and always a hint of mischief in her eye.  She's daring, energetic, up for whatever.  My friends call her "Todo Terreno" (all-terrain) and just today at the park a total stranger used the exact same word to describe her. 1 comment...

Totally independent.  Toddles off in the park to mount the teeter totter all by herself despite it being far from Mom or Canaan.  My friends call her "Todo terreno" because she won't have the older kids doing anything without her and thinks she has no limitations.    When she's had enough of Canaan's intensity she's also happy to toddle off to another room to play by herself for awhile.  Lately Canaan has had a few play dates and things that have given me more one on one...
