Eden is 7 now! She has lost 2 teeth and is dying to lose more. She is obsessed with reading Thea Stilton books and we can't keep enough books in the house to keep her interested. She enjoys being pulled out of English a few times a week to work with Mrs. Meyers on problem-solving and other things that challenge her. Her best friends are Evangelina and Corban and I love her utter confidence in these friendships. She is feisty and an utter goofball and spends a lot of time fake laughing at her own...

What a fun party! Eden's party always feels a bit stressful because it falls right in between trips, as my semester is ending and holiday stuff is starting. But I thoroughly enjoyed this one as we continue to find ways to make things simpler while still making them so special for the kids! Eden was set on a Thea Stilton party and we loved the unique idea! We picked all her friends up from school and had a carful of screamers on our way home. To start the party, there was a scavenger hunt that th...

And just like that we are saying goodbye to Early Childhood for good and embracing Elementary School for the next few years. Eden graduated this year, performing a few songs and getting her first diploma. Her award for the year was "Best Reader" and when her teacher asked the class what Eden was good at they resoundingly knew the answer. She's reading chapter books and loves discussing Geronimo Stilton with her brother as they pass them back and forth.  We celebrated the end of school in th...

Eden's end of year performance was taken from Swan Lake. We took Damari with us and grabbed some food with Canaan and Damari while Eden was backstage. We sat thru the piano players of all levels and then I watched with total pride as my daughter danced across the stage. Of course it was nowhere near perfect but I am so, so proud of her perserverance, determination, responsibility and hard work to keep going back to practice twice a week. Physically she is growing in grace and flexibility but bal...

Eden lost her first tooth on March 5th. She'd gone to the nurse complaining about her teeth hurting, which the nurse solved with some kind of cream. When I got home and she told me that I looked in her mouth and could already see the tooth cutting through. It had been wiggly for awhile and she hadn't noticed. She let me pull it out with my finger that night. Her second tooth came out just about a week later, which I pulled out as well, although with more blood and drama.    Add new com...

Eden had her first ballet recital with her new teacher, Daymara. They did a song from The Little Mermaid and had rainbow colors. Bryan, EBB, and Damari came with our family to cheer her on and shen felt super proud and special. Though the kids didn't know the coreography as well as at her last studio, I noted how much more graceful Eden's movements are getting.       Add new comment...

Birthday day involved a happy birthday song wakeup and pink french toast with sprinkles. We also gave her a birthday present that morning: her very first bike. She had just learned to ride a few weeks ago on her friend's bike so she was thrilled to have her own. She loved the carrying basket and also the giant bow which she insisted on keeping on the bike. She spent time in the yard with Olivia, our neighbor's dog that she loves. That afternoon we just enjoyed each other and took the kids to the...

In between my trip to the Galapagos and our end of semester Beach Debrief we squeezed in Eden's birthday party. I'm learning to keep it super simple at that time of year because not only do we have all the holiday craziness that any family has, but add on all of the end of semester trips and activities and a birthday and well, there isn't a lot of time for extras! Fortunately kids are so delighted with little things. I bought US candy last summer in anticipation of a candy birthday theme and Ede...

Eden completed her first year of ballet by performing in Sleeping Beauty. We were so proud of how hard she worked all year, showing persistence and commitment that surprised us. Truth be told is that ballet twice a week is not all fun and games. They do the same stretches and routines each and every practice. They are expected not to talk but to concentrate and work hard the whole time. I didn't exactly think Eden would last, but she absolutely did. Her hard work paid off with a performance. Hon...
