You've been taking baths for awhile now, but today your mom threw you in the shower with your dad.  It was just easier.  You had poop all over your leg but your dad held you anyway.  You really liked the shower.  You love having water sprinkled on you (a lot more than you like sitting in a bath - your teeth chatter in the bath).  One of your favorite parts of the shower, or your morning face and hair wash under the kitchen sink, is when water gets on your lips.  You slurp it up really quic...

You have not been the best sleeper.  You haven't been the worst, but you haven't been the best either.  Our first few nights at home your mom thought she might jump out the window.  You were up every 45 minutes wanting to eat.  Since then things have gotten slowly better.  Til now you have woken your mom and dad up 3 or 4 times.  They feed you and then they patiently rock you back to sleep.  They've been tired.   But the last two nights you have made them so, so happy!  You have slept f...

Today we got together with all of your Taube Aunts, Uncles and Grandparents.  This was your first time meeting your Grandpa Dan.  Because you're getting older, it was one of the first times your aunts and uncles have gotten to see you alert and awake for a little while.  You even had some great smiles for your Aunt Kora.   This was our first celebration of Mother's Day, you and me.  We celebrated with the family and dad made arrangements to give you a night with your grandparents while we s...

Today you met your Grandma Mel for the first time.  It was a pretty big first meeting.  Not only did she meet you and get to know you a little, but she stayed over night just to watch you.  She got up every time you cried and fed you and rocked you back to sleep ... all while mom and dad slept.  That's one dedicated Grandma to take you on at night on her first day meeting you!   Add new comment...

There are two sounds that we hear out of you a lot.  Okay, three sounds but one we weren't planning to document.  (You haven't yet learned how to poop quietly and tend to announce it to the whole room - and the room next door when it's happening.)   But you get hiccups ALL the time.  We try to help you work those out, but often there isn't much we can do.  You don't seem to mind them too much.  They kind of calm you.  Each time you hiccup it takes over your whole little body and you bounc...

We finally quit making you wear mittens this week.  This was for two reasons.  First, we had to cut your fingernails because they were LONG and we were afraid you would scratch yourself.  But we were also afraid to clip those teensy fingernails that move so quickly so it was just easier to keep the mittens on.  Also, your hands are cold all the time!   But this week we decided it's time to get used to the real world, so off with the mittens!  We are loving seeing your little, expressive...

You hate it.  You hate having your clothes off and you hate being cold.  Your little teeth chatter as Dad and I work as quickly as possible covering and uncovering parts of you to bathe.   Auntie Kim documented your hatred of this on her first day meeting you. Add new comment...

We had non-stop visitors our second night with you. Eric and Emily came to meet you, but left your friend Edie at home. Then a few minutes later Jarrett and Catherine showed up to hold you. Near the end of their visit you started getting really hungry. Just as they were walking out the door, most of your aunties and uncles showed up! Aunties Laura and Kora and Uncles Mark and Matt came with balloons, Chipotle for us, and clothes and shoes for you. Only you were really hungry by that point and th...

Sunday, April 4, 2010 was Easter Sunday.  It was also the day my parents were set to fly back to Idaho, after spending five days with Nate and I in the hopes of being part of the birth of their first grandchild.   At around 1am on Easter Sunday I woke up feeling some contractions.  I wasn’t too surprised, as I had experienced a few the night before.  But those had tapered off and led to nothing so I was trying to stay calm and not get my hopes up.  I grabbed my alarm and timed them, but t...
