Laura and Garenne's wedding was a success.  They commemorated their vows under a white gazebo with an ocean view.  All of the parents had some part in the ceremony and Mark & Kora, despite Kora's nerves, did an excellent job singing and received tons of compliments afterward.  Laura's dress, which was made in China, turned out gorgeous.  A few wives of groomsmen were gracious enough to keep an eye on some of the babies in the back.     Loved witnessing the diffe...

With Canaan as the official ring bearer and Nate acting as one of the ushers we certainly couldn't miss the rehearsal!  Canaan had a blast playing in an enclosed outdoor space where he could run wild.  He loved going up the stairs of the gazebo with the flower girl and then asking for help back down.  He was a pro at walking up the aisle in his two practice runs and loved the clapping and attention it gave him.    I enjoyed checking out the site prior to the ceremony, wa...

In the last seven days we've cleared four times in three countries.  Here's a shot of Canaan's excitement to finally be clearing customs in Jamaica after a long, hard day of travel from Quito, to Miami, to Jamaica.         After so many lines and forms I can say that I greatly appreciate Ecuador's sensitivity to parents with young kids and expectant mothers.  They are the best at whisking you straight through to the front of the lines.  Yep, you read that right...

Valentine's Day didn't feel a whole lot different than most other days this year.  We got back from Lake Geneva just in time to have our friends Jarrett and Catherine over for lunch and mentoring.  Then we headed out the door to our fifth birth class where we learned about some good comfort measures and partner work for labor, as well as all about what happens in a C-section.  After that we had the night to ourselves but had no desire to head back out for something fancy.  So I brought just ...

This weekend took me to Kalamazoo, MI for a hitching. It was also a mini grad school reunion, as Sandy is a friend from Wheaton and people were flying in from Missouri and Korea to be there for her. It was a fun two-day reunion involving lots of girl time, laughter, road tripping, wedding dancing and not much sleep.
